2016 Pro Teams Competition
The 2016 Western NC BBQ Festival “Smokin’ in the Valley” is a KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned event and will adhere to those guidelines. KCBS representatives will be onsite.
The contest consists of four KCBS categories which are required in order to qualify for the Grand Championship. Judging begins at noon on Saturday using the blind judging technique. We strongly encourage you to also compete in the Friday night Ancillary categories — Anything Butt Meat and Anything Butt Dessert. Our Sponsors enjoy participating as VIP Judges! Without our Sponsors, we could not hold this event each year.
North Carolina Teams can participate in the NC Governor’s competition. Top scoring team from NC will take away a beautiful trophy — presented by someone from the Governor’s office — along with $250
Saturday after the Competition Categories will be a People’s Choice and a chance for the public to be the judge of their favorite 2015 Professional team. By far the best of the Braggin’ Rights, here! A trophy and $250 in prize money.
